Thanassis Giannetsos is the Head of the Secure Systems & Trusted Computing section in UBITECH leading the research activities related to the design of strong secure, privacy-preserving and trusted computing protocols for a wide range of systems and networks. He is also appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor in Secure Systems at the Technical University of Denmark. Thanassis received his PhD in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of Aalborg and a MSc degree in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University.

Prior to that he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Surrey, UK, a Senior Researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Athens Information technology (AIT).

Thanassis has spent several years working as a researcher in the academia working on various aspects of wireless network security (since it is so difficult to achieve in real life…). He is a leading scientist in the area of security and cryptography and he is interested in various aspects of theoretical computer science like combinatorial optimization, design and analysis of heuristics/probabilistic algorithms for difficult to solve problems, sensor and RFID networks, vehicular communication networks, and computer network security. His research interests span from applied cryptography to privacy and security in information technology; in particular, encryption, Internet of Things, privacy-enhancing technologies and trusted computing. He has been active in international security standardization for trusted computing technologies (especially in the Trusted Computing Group) and ISO TC 307.

Thanassis has been involved in a number of European collaborative research projects and nationally funded projects in the areas of network security, privacy, identity & credential management and has participated as a researcher or served as a scientific coordinator in a number of projects related to security and privacy, and trusted computing.
